Requirements

MDA Server System Requirements

All you need to run the MDA server is a 64-bit Linux or Windows installation capable of running Java 1.6 and a legacy relational database engine.

More details can be found in the MDA Server Administration Guide in the chapter MDA Server Requirements.

MDA Server Web-UI Requirements

The officer functions of the MDA are accessible through a web interface, which obviously requires a web browser.

Any recent browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safair, IE8+) with JavaScript enabled will do.

MDA Client for Android Requirements

Software Requirements

Recommended Android versions: 2.3.x (Gingerbread) and 4.0.x (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Compatible Android versions: 2.2 (Froyo) and above.

Remark: Developer tests are done on devices running 2.3.3 and 4.0.3/4.0.4. Once the 3G-version of the Nexus 7 becomes available we will start to test on bleeding edge versions free from 3rd party modifications.

Hardware Requirements

Memory card: Currently the Android-App stores all local data on a memory card, therefore something like a SD card is required (To be exact, Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() has to return a writable directory). On demand we can have the client use another part of the file system, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Recommended: Barcode reader capable of reading Code-128 barcodes. Collection of measurement is possible without using barcodes, but barcodes can speed up the process and help to reduce mistakes.
