Installing MDA Client for Android

Software Requirements

The MDA-Client for Android targets Android 2.3.3.

To avoid implementing towards dead ends, it is also regularly tested on Android 4.0.x.

Installing MDA.apk

MDA devices bought directly from ITEG already have MDA pre-installed and usually configured to the customer's environment.

Customers using devices from other sources have to install MDA.apk themselfes.

MDA.apk can be installed like any other Android application, but due to the licensing model beeing independent from the Android market (Google Play) it is distributed on other channels, and therefore the system option “install applications from unknown sources” has to be enabled.

“Unknown Source” is misleading a bit, ITEG actually signs the production version, MDA.apk, using the same keys that are used to sign the Demo version MDA-Demo.apk as available from http://mda-demo.iteg.at/mda-updates/MDA-Demo.apk and from the Android market Google Play (http://goo.gl/XakpQ).
