OSGi Server Requirements

Resource Requirements

For minimal test setups these are the minimum resource requirements:

  • x64 CPU with 1 GHz

  • 2 GB RAM

  • 4 GB free HD space

  • Network connection, 100 MBit

For production setups, we recommend at least these specifications (“+” means “or better”):

  • x64 CPU, 2+ cores, 2+ GHz

  • 4+ GB physical RAM (virtual RAM is a reserve for peak load, no real resource)

  • 10+ GB free HD space, database on HW RAID or SSD

  • 1 Network connection(s) with 1 GBit

Operating System Requirements

Our OSGi Server Infrastructure requires a 64 bit operating system.

For Windows installation, Windows Server 2003+ or Windows 7+ are expected.

For Linux installations we recommend to use Debian or a Debian based distro. For RPM based distributions or other distributions we suggest to run a Debian installation in a chroot environment, feel free to ask us for support.

Database Requirements

Most of our OSGi based server products require a relational database to store it's data (or most of it at least).

The two database systems officially supported by ITEG are:

Newer versions of those should be OK too, like MySQL 5.5 and MSSQL 2012.

Support for other relational database systems is available on request. The libraries used already support PostgreSQL and Oracle.

Java Requirements: JRE

The TISGraph server requires a Java SE 8 JRE (JDK is not needed).

For Linux installations the distributor's OpenJDK packages should satisfy (see http://openjdk.java.net/install/), we recommend to set JAVA_HOME as global environment variable, via /etc/profile.d/java-env.sh.

Under Windows download JRE8 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html and execute the jre-8uxx-windows-x64.exe installer.

Browser Requirements

The basic administration of our OSGi based server products can be performed with any Web 2.0 browser: IE8+, FF 10+, Chrome, Safari.

To actually use the products on a daily basis, a rather recent browser is required (TISGraph) or highly recommended (MDA, INFEX, others): Firefox 38+, IE 11+, Google Chrome.

For enterprise networks we recommend to install and use either Firefox' Extended Support Release (download), Chrome (system wide package variant), or IE 11+.
